What is this course?
This is the option to attend a free trial of the first session of this six-part course. Passover is a holiday that for millennia has been celebrated in our homes, sitting around our tables, as we share in an intergenerational reading of the Passover tale. The eldest and the youngest all have their own roles as this ancient tale is told, and retold, year after year. In the Hassidic and Kabbalistic tradition, Egypt is more than a country, but also a state of mind, and freedom is not a distant memory, but a constant struggle and aspiration to awaken our deepest and truest nature. Each session of this six-part course will include a close reading of key sections from a variety of Jewish and psychoanalytic texts, followed by a related meditative practice designed to help us find greater freedom. Beginning with the text of the Torah, we will explore The Passover Haggadah, the Zohar and the midrashic commentaries of our ancient sages, and the teachings of many of the Kabbalistic and Hasidic Masters who all gathered with their families on this very night, bringing balance to the chaos. In each session, we will learn about and then practice some of our ancient rites, including cleaning the home, burning the Hametz, the ritual of the Seder itself, asking liberating questions, and the sacred art of storytelling. We will meet not only Moses and Pharaoh, but also Elijah and Miriam, the Prophets who accompany us on this journey. Pessach is a night like no other. No matter where you find yourself, physically or spiritually, miracles may happen. Join us as we split the sea, break open our heart and free our Soul. All texts will be provided in Hebrew and English translation. This course is open to learners of all backgrounds and orientations. HOW DOES IT WORK? The course consists of 6 live online sessions, of approximately 1.25 hours. Each class is also recorded and is sent out to all registrants following each class, so participants can watch and listen to the recordings at their own leisure. Each class includes: 1. Text study, teaching, and discussion. 2. Practices and exercises. There will be a WhatsApp group for sharing and supporting one another on this journey.
